Graveside service for Mrs. Lois Dell (Dinky) McGough Douglas of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00AM Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop with Rev. Hubert Morris officiating. Memorial Service will be at 2:00PM Sunday, September 11, 2022, at North Monroe Baptist Church under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 6:00PM Saturday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Dinky was born on October 8, 1940, to John Lawrence and Minnie Mae Hall McGough in Bastrop. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1958. She completed her B.S. Degree from Northeast Louisiana State College (ULM) and a Master of Education degree from Northwestern State University, and postgraduate (+30) from McNeese. She and her husband were retired teachers/coaches from both public and private schools.
Dinky was preceded in death by her husband, Morris (Moose) Douglas; her parents; four brothers, Lawrence, Robert, Charles and David McGough; brother-in-law, Jim Brent; and sister-in-law, Mary McLemore McGough.
Surviving family include her three children, Dowd (Elizabeth) Douglas of Jena, Dusti Douglas of Monroe, and Drew (Mona) Douglas of Tyler TX; four sisters, Alice Brent of Bastrop, Margaret (Robert) Zeagler of Belle Chase, Betty (Charlie) King of Lake Providence, and Jeanie (Chris) Witt of Ruston; grandchildren, Kara Brodie Rogers (Erik) Dawson and Delaney Douglas, Andrew Strong (Emily); great grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Strong; and sisters-in-law, Margie Bruce and Gail McGough.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her grandchildren’s favorite charities; River City Humane Society for Cats in Monroe, LA; Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School basketball program; The Pines Catholic Camp in Big Sandy, TX; or Dream Hunt Foundation in Stonewall, LA.
