Lois Brooks Edmiston, 99, of West Monroe, LA was born on October 20, 1908, in Quitman, LA and died on December 30, 2007 in West Monroe, LA. She was a retired Elementary School Teacher with the Ouachita Parish School System. Mrs. Edmiston was of the Methodist faith. She received her B.S. Degree from LA Tech. Mrs. Edmiston is preceded in death by her husband, James M. Edmiston; son, Charles Spencer Edmiston; parents, John Spencer and Callie Thomas Brooks; brothers, Printis and Morgan Brooks; sisters, Gertrude and Sarah Brooks, Eula B. Williamson and Atlas B. Turbeville; and a niece, Francis Mitchell Pollard.
Survivors include her son, James M. Edmiston, Jr.; daughters-in-law, Virginia Pohlman Edmiston and Martha Chappell Edmiston; grandchildren, Kim Edmiston Williams, Koy Edmiston Mislowsky, Richard S. Edmiston, Robert J. Edmiston; great grandchildren, Caroline and Charles Williams, Ali, Elizabeth and Emily Mislowsky, Dylan and Cody Edmiston; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Edmiston, “Mama Ed’s” life was long and full and one with many blessings. Her family, church, friends, students, and her beautiful flowers being among her greatest blessings. She will be missed by her family and friends, but are all better from having been part of her life.
Pallbearers will be L.V. Kane, Brian Alford, Don Sims, Roland Alford, Charles Gordon and Casey Ivy.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 4, 2008 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. with Rev. Jerry Salisbury officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the West Monroe Methodist Protestant Church Building Fund, 1132 Rogers Road West Monroe, LA 71292.
