Celebration of life and her going home for Linda Killingsworth Davis Laing, 66 will be 1:00PM Friday, January 15, 2015 at the East Haven Church of God in Bastrop, LA with Bro. Louis Bartet and Bishop Kelvin Copeland officiating. Private burial will be under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville.Mrs. Laing was born on July 27, 1949 in Winnsboro and passed from this life on January 12, 2016 in West Monroe.She was a retired deputy from the Richland Parish Sheriff Dept. She served her community under three sheriffs, spanning a career of twenty nine years. During this time she was the first female warden in the parish. Her most rewarding title was chaplain. She loved to worship with the offenders and telling them about Jesus. During her career and under her supervision, the chapel was constructed on the grounds of the prison. She was very instrumental in the creation of many different groups that are spreading the gospel for the offenders at the detention center. Through her love and Godly example, numerous young ladies (she referred to the female offenders as “Ladies”) were led to our Lord, and many are still serving Him today. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted parents-Vera and Floyd Killingsworth; sisters-Joyce K. Roberts and Patsy Elaine Killingsworth.She is survived by her husband-Fred Laing of Rayville; children that she lived for are her elder son-Edward Davis and wife Kayla of Rayville; her youngest son-John W. “Jay” Davis, II; her youngest child, her only daughter, and best friend-Delia “Dee” Scott and Shaine Scott her beloved son-in-law; and Jennifer Laing Rogers, whom she loved as a daughter and husband Casey of West Monroe; her precious grandchildren whom she loved making “MiMi memories” with-Trey and Lani Davis, Brandon, Jacob, and Jerimiah Davis, Remington Scott, Kristen Harelson, Josh Brooks, Matthew Mosely, Jourdan and Matthew Amar; her special nieces and nephews-Elizabeth “Liz” and Josh Pace, Sonya and Rick Magnelli, Randall, Shannon and Kevin Roberts; many years ago Linda chose and was chosen to merge herself and her children with the late Norma Taylor family from the Downsville, LA area. Linda found and gave much love, comfort, and wisdom from Mrs. Norma “Mam Maw” Taylor, her children, and grandchildren-Lori Ann Taylor, John Taylor, and Julia Taylor Hancock, Bobby and Rena Taylor, Keith and Lori Jo Taylor, Ramona and Scott Barron, Karen Taylor, Stuart and Sonya Taylor, and their children; and a host of other family and friends.Pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor, Keith Taylor, Stuart Taylor, Scott Barron, John Brunson, Charles McDonald, Chris Sasser, and Danny Trichell.
