Funeral Services for Linda Gates Sherman, 70, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Darrell Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Sherman was born in Monroe, LA on November 16, 1940 and died on October 19, 2011 at Grace Home Hospice in Shreveport, LA. She retired from R.L. Polk and was a current member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church and former member of First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, where she raised many babies in the nursery. Linda’s greatest joy in life were her two daughters, Renee and Carol and later her two granddaughters, Aimee and Lexie. She loved her girls and son-in-laws, and many months were spent with them making memories. Linda resided at Colonial Oaks Guest Care in Bossier City, LA. While there she made many special friends who became part of her extended family. She was elected Ms. Colonial Oaks in July 2011 and enjoyed wearing her “Royal Attire” to functions with her friends. Linda is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Nettie and Harvey Leonard; father and step-mother, Delmar and Erdell Gates; sisters, Helen Chumley and Carol Sue Gates and her brother, Bobby Gates.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Renee Dean and husband, Darrell; Carol Sullivan and husband, Ryan; and their father, Scott Sherman; granddaughters, Aimee Dean and Lexie Sullivan; sisters, Liz Moore and Frances Wallace; sister-in-law, Shirley Gates along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Young, Jesse Johnson, Rick Caldwell, Justin LaBorde, Chris Kelley and Heath O’Neal.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to the Colonial Oaks Guest Care Facility, 4921 Medical Drive Bossier City, LA 71112.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staffs at Colonial Oaks Guest Care, Promise Hospital of Bossier City and to Grace Home Hospice for the love and care that was shown.
