Lillie Marie Yates

Graveside services for Lillie Marie Yates, 88 of Delhi will be at 1:00PM Sunday, July 9, 2017 with Rev. Pat Lofton officiating. Burial will be in the Epps Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville.

Lillie was born on July 8, 1928 in Winnsboro and passed away July 6, 2017 in Delhi.

She attended Northeast Jr. College and graduated from Northwestern College, and she received a Masters Degree from Northeast now ULM, first Economic Home Demonstration Agent for East Carroll Parish, but is most known as a Home Economics teacher at Monticello High School for 40+ years. She loved to cook, sew, garden, work with flowers, and helping others. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Delhi, where she served in the home bound ministries program for years. She led the FHA organization at Monticello High School while teaching, member of Delhi Garden Club, and a Red Cross volunteer.

She is preceded in death by her parents-Asa T. and Mary Elsie Norwood and husband of 63 years-Harold Carl Yates.

She is survived by her children-Cindy Matthews, Beth Cobb and husband Willie, and Craig Yates and wife Doris; grandchildren- Keith Weaver and wife Paula, Krista Sellars and husband Ryan, Tim Matthews and wife Beth, Jason Cobb and Kara Matthews; ten great grandchildren; a brother-Asa T. Norwood; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00PM Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Mulhearn Funeral Home-Rayville.
