Funeral services for Mr. Leon McConathy, 88, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday May 8, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Pastor Shelley Hill and Judge Charles Joiner officiating. Interment will be in Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia, LA.
Mr. McConathy was a member of St. Paschal Church in West Monroe, LA. He was a Master Gardner and a member of the American Legion. Mr. McConathy was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. Mr. McConathy participated in the Senior Olympic Games in 2010 at the age of 80 and won gold, silver and bronze medals. He is preceded in death by his son, Leon “Butch” McConathy, mother, Maxie Prudhomme McConathy, father, Ira J. McConathy, brother, Michael McConathy, in-laws, William and Lucille Storey.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sarah Storey McConathy; daughter, Jane McConathy Brandon and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Ashley Brandon Pere’ and husband Dom, Patrick Brandon and wife Rachel, Katelyn McConathy, Carson Turner, Campbell Turner and wife Ashley; nine great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe Storey and wife Melrose; sister-in-law, Frances Storey; nephews, Randy Storey, Greg Storey; nieces, Gaye Hudani, and Kim Storey.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Brandon, Patrick Brandon, Dom Pere’, Donald Shaw, Minaz Hudani, Jason Storey, Carson Turner, and Campbell Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Storey, Greg Storey, Curtis McCrary, Gerald Arrant, and Frank Varino.
Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM Monday May, 7, 2018 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
