Leon Heath

Leon Heath reached toward Angels and entered into Heavens Gates on Monday, August 17, 2020 at the age of 92.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Friday at Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, LA with Private Family Graveside Services to follow in the Gwin Memorial Cemetery in Mangham, LA. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Leon is preceded in death by his wife, Nell Bradshaw Heath; wife, Maureen Shrode Heath; and his son, Gerald Heath.

Survivors include his sons, Gary Heath (Lynn), Neal Heath (Karen), and Bruce Heath (Kim); daughter, Freida Heath Bastoe (Rickey); grandchildren, Heath Bastoe (Lauren) and their children, Brodie and Baylee; Theresa Bastoe McConathy (Adam) and their children, Cole, Carson, and Colin; Jarrod Heath (Gena) and their children, Cole and Mallory; Brandon Heath (Treva) and their daughter, Breya; Kevin Heath (Taylor) and their daughter, Ophelia; Nichole Heath and her daughter, Maylee Rose; Jessica Heath and Jacob; daughter-in-law, Arabella Barnett Heath. He is also survived by Maureen’s 4 children; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Leon left his grandparents home at the age of 16, enlisting in the Air Force at the age of 17. He served in the Korean Conflict as a Sargant as an Air Traffic Controller. He married Nell Bradshaw in 1948 and raised 5 children together living in Archibald, Mangham, Bastrop, and Delhi, where he helped establish the Delhi Church of Christ, continuing preaching at other churches for 64 years. Leon was instrumental in leading untold numbers of people to Christ, performing baptisms, marriages and final celebrations of life. He was a kind, loving gentle man who always expressed his love freely. Mr. Heath was the owner of Heath and Sons Insurance and Real Estate Agency. After Nell’s death in 1993, Leon married Maureen Shrode and moved to Stephenville, TX, where he had a small hobby ranch, continuing to preach and help spread the Good News. After Maureen’s death, he returned to Louisiana where he continued to work in God’s service.

Pallbearers will be Gary Heath, Neal Heath, Bruce Heath, Heath Bastoe, Jarrod Heath, Brandon Heath and Adam McConathy.

Memorials may be made to One Kingdom at Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ.
