Funeral Services for Mr. Leo Grayson, 102, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 11, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Fred Oaks and Rev. Stewart Sherman officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Grayson was born February 26, 1914 in Vixen, LA and passed away September 9, 2016 in Monroe, LA. He retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant on August 31, 1962 after 20 years of service. Mr. Grayson served in Campaigns as Infantry Platoon Leader in the Normandy Assault leading on D-Day, the Northern France Campaign, Rhineland Campaign, Ardennes Campaign and the Central Europe Campaign. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Mattie T. Grayson.
Survivors include his son, Tommy Smith and wife Charlene; daughter, Cheryl Gardner and husband Eddie; grandchildren, Misti Smith Cordell and husband Hardeman and Troy Gardner and wife Paige; great grandchildren, John and Hank Cordell, Grayson, Sley and Celeste Gardner.
Pallbearers will be Mike Gilley, George Risdale, Jerry Miller, Hank Cordell, John Cordell and Tom Oaks.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Elmo Owen, Gearld Brown, Sley Gardner and Grayson Gardner.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Memorials may be made to the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, LA.
