Lee Edward Ineichen, Jr.
Memorial service for Lee Edward Ineichen, Jr. will be 2:30PM Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Rayville United Methodist Church with Rev. Darryl Tate officiating. Viewing for all friends and family will be from 1:30 to 2:30PM preceding service.
He died on September 30, 2012 at age 68 after fighting cancer courageously for over 8 ½ years. His loving wife Barbara and sister Linda and brother-in-law Dick Geiermann were with him when he joined his parents, Lee Edward and Dorothy Ineichen and little sister Connie in heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara and her daughters, Lori Carney and husband, Bobby and their sons, Tyler and A.J. and Melanie Edmonds and her children, Marcie, Peyton, and Braeton, sister, Linda Geiermann and brother-in-law, Dick Geiermann, nephew Chris Bittman and Kenda Noble, great nieces and nephews, Hayley, Piper, Spencer, Ella and Cooper Bittman, and niece, Ashley Dabbiere and Alan Dabbiere and great niece and nephews, Constance, Cameron, Alston and Calvin Dabbiere.
Lee was born in Monroe, LA on July 16, 1944 and was raised in Rayville, LA. He was a varsity track athlete and proud graduate of LSU and remained one of the Tiger’s most loyal fans all of his life even on his last days asking “Did the Tigers win?” His knowledge of football trivia was legendary. He graduated from Loyola University New Orleans Law School and served in the Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) corps on active duty and was in the Reserves for 25 years retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe, LA. He volunteered for the Gulf War in order to keep members of his reserve group with families from having to leave them. Upon his return, he worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, MS before transferring to the U.S. Department of the Interior in Lakewood, CO.
Lee possessed a wonderful attribute – one few people have – that of a magnetic personality. Strangers liked him on sight, sensing his kindness and endearing nature. His dog Charley never left his side. His circle of childhood friends grew up and fished together at his family’s camp on Lake St. John. They remained close friends throughout his life. He was the quintessential uncle and grandfather, enthusiastically joining in family festivities and special occasions. More than one of them learned to run pass routes with Lee as quarterback with the hope that they would someday wear a Tiger uniform. Lee will be remembered with love and respect and he will be greatly missed.
He and Barbara married on March 30, 2010 and he was finally united with “the love of his life.”
