Laura “Lynn” Henderson was born November 18, 1964 in Helena, Arkansas and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2020, at the age of 54. Lynn was full of life and a lot of fun! She always smiled big and laughed big with a child-like excitement.
Lynn graduated from Barton High School in 1983, Phillips County Community College in 1988, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003. Lynn’s heart for missions and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ was a trait for which we should all aspire. She truly loved people and wanted everyone to know the Lord. Through the years, Lynn served churches through various missions and ministries, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Crested Butte, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois and Fort Worth, Texas. In 1990, Lynn was called to serve in The Gambia and Ghana, Africa as a Journeyman with the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board. Lynn loved the people of Africa and spoke of her travels and work often. In 2001, she moved to New Orleans prior to settling in West Monroe, Louisiana to lead mission work in apartment complexes as part of the Nehemiah Mission Project. It was during this time that Lynn became a part of her new family, Fair Park Baptist Church. Lynn loved her church family and her church family loved her. She served in so many areas of the church it is difficult to list them all, but she was especially proud of her work with children’s choirs and the Audio/Visual team. Lynn was the computer and technology guru for many at Fair Park, but most importantly she was a friend and servant. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Lynn impacted many lives through her Christian walk. She is already missed tremendously. Lynn was employed at Scott Equipment in Monroe, and she enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.
Lynn was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Clark Henderson.
She loved her family and was so proud of each one. She enjoyed sharing stories of their accomplishments often.
Lynn is survived by her father, Henry Henderson; brother, William Henderson; sister, Debra Buyer and husband Nate; three nephews and one niece whom she adored, Allen King, Dale King, Zach King, and Katie Wood. She was also survived by three great-nephews, five great-nieces, aunts, uncles and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Lynn will be held in the near future.
