Memorial services for Mr. Larry Gene Evans, 71, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday December 17, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Jeff Luellen officiating.
Larry passed away on December 9, 2017, at St. Francis Specialty Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Larry was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action as he served our country. He worked hard for his family and loved them boldly. He instilled the importance of hard work and perseverance in everyone he loved. He enjoyed working in his shop and there was seldom a time where he did not have a special carpentry project in the works. He was an avid collector of antique signs and Coca Cola products. He was giving of his time and quick to assist those in need. If you thought you were going to tell him something, he was quick to remind you “I know”.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jones Evans; father, Aubrey Thomas Evans; brothers, Thomas (Bo) Evans, James Evans; and sister, Rosemary Evans Nixon.
Survivors include his daughter, Bridgette Evans Dungan and husband David, granddaughters, Sydney and Samantha; son, Ryan Evans, granddaughters, Kynley, Addalley and Sydney; his significant other for 30 years, Judy Jenkins; daughter, Lyndsay Jenkins Mixon and husband Matt, granddaughters, Kate and Klaire; sister, Patsy Romano; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until service time on Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy, Bobby and Sonny Bennett, Rick Breen, David LeVasseur, Jeff Guerriero, Bobby Jones and Butch Boyte.
In lieu of flowers please send memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
