Kimberly Diane Hubbard Bontekoe was born on August 10, 1960, in Pensacola, Florida. She passed from earth to heaven, peacefully, in the early hours of Sunday, July 17, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA.
Kim was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Working as a secretary for most of her adult life, she blessed several employers with her gifts of organization and congeniality. Kim enjoyed spending time outside, whether at the beach or working in the yard on her flower beds, she cherished the beauty of God’s creation. Kim found great joy in hosting gatherings in her home with her family and friends. She could make anyone feel welcome with warm conversation and a glass of the best homemade sweet tea. She was a listener, caretaker, and encourager at heart.
Kim lavished love on her son and his family. Her grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life. She loved spending time with them, gushed with pride over them, and spoiled them with anything and everything that she could give. The greatest gift that she gave her family, though, was a legacy of loving the Lord. As a devoted follower and member of Trinity Baptist Church, Kim fully embraced the grace and salvation that is available in Jesus Christ. She extended that grace to others despite the many health struggles that she experienced throughout her life. Her strength and perseverance, even to the end of her time on earth, testifies to her intimate walk with her Savior. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her body and mind are now fully restored, and she is experiencing fullness of joy in the presence of God and her parents who have gone before her to heaven.
Kim is preceded in death by her father and mother, Herbert and Marjorie Hubbard; bonus brother-in-law, Thomas Galyean; as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Barbo wife Ashley; brothers, Barry Hubbard and Larry Hubbard wife Neva; sister, Laurie Anstead; grandson, Brennon Barbo and wife Cameron; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Addisyn Barbo; nephew, Taylor Anstead; nieces, Sarah and Rachel Hubbard; bonus mother, Patricia Hubbard; bonus sisters, Sharon Boseman-Galyean and Karen Birmingham and husband Steve; bonus brother, Thomas Boseman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rowland Road Baptist Church Student Ministry (336 Rowland Road Monroe, LA 71203) where Kim’s grandson, Brennon, serves as student pastor.
