Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Maxey Jr, 35, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 28, 2008 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, La with Dr. William “Bill” Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kenneth “Kenny” Wayne Maxey Jr. was born on January 25, 1973 in Monroe, LA and passed away on what would have been the celebration of his 35th birthday, January 25, 2008.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cleo Charles Maxey; N.J. Wesson and Rhoda Virginia Wesson; and his close aunt, Tracy Maxey Burgin.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Sandra Maxey of Swartz, LA; his sister, Virginia Gwin of Mangham, LA; grandmother, Etta Maxey of Monroe, LA; uncles, Larry Maxey, Richard Maxey, William Spence, and Glen Noble Sr.; aunts, Jo Ann Noble, Susan Maxey; very special nieces, Tracy Mashaw, Sydney Mashaw, and Lauren Gwin; brother-in-law, Joshua Gwin.
Kenneth’s spirit was one of giving and loving without condition. His kind heart led him through life with a spirit of curiosity and wonder. He possessed the ability to earn trust and friendship with all he met. Kenneth was a loving son and grandson, adoring Uncle to his nieces, and best friend to anyone in need.
Kenneth possessed a strong intellect, able to quickly learn and understand the most complicated tasks and methods. He loved learning and excelling in every endeavor. He enjoyed any pastime that challenged him, whether athletically or mentally, especially golf, weightlifting, and racquetball.
In 1990, he was selected to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership conference in Washington D.C. and John Hopkins University, an honor given to only a select few young people.
Kenneth graduated Ouachita High School as Valedictorian with the class of 1991, where he was a defensive back on the state champion football team in 1989. His formal education continued with a full scholarship to Louisiana Tech University, where he graduated, Summa Cum Laude in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He was employed as a Systems Analyst and Account Executive with Medford Medical Systems in Monroe.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, La.
