A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Kenneth Alan Saterfield, 84, retired businessman and longtime resident of Monroe, LA will be held at North Monroe Baptist Church (West Venue) in Monroe, LA on Monday, November 4th at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Saterfield passed away on October 25th, 2024 with his loving wife of 45 years, Cindy Saterfield by his side.
Mr. Saterfield was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 5th, 1940 and relocated to Monroe, LA with his brother Robert in his younger years. He graduated from Ouachita High School and was known for his skill in baseball. Ken went on to play in the minor leagues and serve in the Marine Reserves.
Ken was well known to his friends and family for his love of baseball, golf, fishing and participated in many clubs and tournaments well into his later years. He loved playing cards and dominoes with friends and was always ready with a joke on hand for the occasion. Mr. Saterfield was the publisher of The Penny Saver newspaper from 1967 until 1989 as well as the proud owner of the Surf and Turf Restaurant in Calhoun, LA. He was an avid reader of all things western and a serious collector of stamps and coins. He was a devoted husband and father as well as the best papaw anyone could ask for. Mr. Saterfield is preceded in death by his best-friend and brother Robert D. Saterfield, Sr. and daughter in law, Isidra O. Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Saterfield; children Mark Saterfield, Alana Saterfield James (Darren) and Jim Brooks (Kathy); Grandchildren Hannah James and Paul James (Bri), James Brooks (Lesley) and Seth Brooks and Cyndi Tomberlin (Delvin); Great -grandchildren Ryan and Aislynn Tomberlin; Mother in law Letha Ouchley Frank, Sister in law Vickie Griffin (Danny) as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
The Saterfield Family would like to thank the caregivers of The Oaks for their compassionate and loving care as well as Brother Mike and Becky McLaurin for their many years of devoted friendship and for officiating the memorial service.
