Funeral services for Kenneth Roy “Ken” Beall, Sr., 80, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA, with Bro. Ricky Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilpatrick’s Serenity Garden in West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday.
Ken was born February 9, 1937, to Leroy and Ollie Mae King Beall of Crowville, LA and passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law Robert Byargeon,his wife Francis McKnight Beall and grandson Bailey Swaggart. He is survived by one daughter Kim Huntsman and husband Keith of Beekman, LA; one son Kenneth Roy Beall, Jr. (Kenny) and wife Lera of West Monroe, LA; one sister Betty Byargeon of Winnsboro, LA; stepchildren Alisa Swaggart Lear and husband Bernie of Downsville, LA; Richard Joseph Swaggart and wife Debbie of Downsville, LA; Kenny Swaggart and wife Shalia of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren Megan Huntsman, Morgan Huntsman, Toby Trichell and wife Jessica, Erik Beall , Amanda Chase and husband Drew, Malissa Nappier and husband Matt, Brandon Swaggart and wife Deanna, Sunny Swaggart Green and husband Shane, Toni Swaggart Parrish and husband Patrick, Kelsey Swaggart Burke and her husband Michael; 13 great grandchildren plus a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Ken was a graduate of Crowville High School and then served four years in the United States Air Force, spending two of those years in Japan.
He was employed and retired with 39 years of service at Riverwood Int., Carton Plants, Plant 70 and Plant 66 (now Graphic Packaging) in West Monroe, LA, during which time he was Finishing Shift Supervisor and Finishing Dept. Manager. For several years, he was co-owner of the first Huddle House in West Monroe, LA, and then owner of Unique Answering and Secretarial Service in Monroe, LA. He loved spending time camping with his wife, family and friends and was a lifetime member of the Good Sam RV Club. He was also an avid deer hunter with membership in the Eric Orr Hunting Club in Arkansas, where he spent many happy seasons enjoying this time with the guys at the camp. His “shops” were a family legend and source of pride where he spent countless hours fixing things up and working on his many projects. He is also a member of Moose Lodge #3000, of General Assembly II and Moose Legion #118. Also a member of the Handyman Club of America and long standing life member of the NRA.
Above all else, his family was the most important thing to him, and he was so proud of his kids and grandkids.
Pallbearers will be Toby Trichell, Erik Beall Drew Chase, Tyler Trichell, Kirkland MiddleBrooks and Morgan Ghaedi. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Eric Orr Hunting Club.
Memorials may be sent to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 1569 Harmon Johnson Road, Monroe, LA, 71202, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
