Kenneth Ellis McDonald Jr.

Funeral Services celebrating the life of Mr. Kenneth Ellis McDonald, Jr., 93, of Mangham, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville, LA, with Fr. Peter Mallya officiating. Interment will follow in the Gwin Cemetery in Mangham, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. 

Kenneth Ellis McDonald, Jr. was born July 1, 1930 at his house in Bastrop, LA, and passed away on May 26, 2024, at his home in Mangham, LA.

He was married for seventy-five years to Monita Ann Ritter McDonald, and together they raised three sons and a daughter in Mangham. He was a lifetime farmer, an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed horse races. He enjoyed travelling with his wife and their adventures included trips to Mount Rushmore, the Redwoods in California, the Grand Canyon, Lake Louise in Canada, Las Vegas, Charleston, and places in between. More important, however, he adored his family, and they knew it. Holidays were so important to him, and he always made sure “everyone knew they were cooking.” He was happiest when all of his family were gathered together. After celebrating the holiday, he was always trying to load your vehicle down with food, flowers, and anything he could give away.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Ellis and Margie McDonald; brother, Robert Lawrence McDonald; and great-grandchild, Cohen Coates Hogan.

He is survived by his wife, Monita Ann Ritter; his sons and their spouses, Dr. Kenneth Ellis McDonald, III (Linda), Gary Coates McDonald (Joyce), Jody Ritter McDonald (Cherie), and his daughter, Monita Alice Howington (Preddy “Pops”). He was most proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all called him “Kenneth”. Grandchildren, Kenneth Ellis McDonald IV, Michelle Hogan (Josh), Gary Coates McDonald, Jr., John Tanner McDonald (Ashley), Caroline Windham Foote (Jeremy), Hunter Windham, and Kasey McDonald Johnson (Blake). Great-grandchildren, Kniht and Shiloh Hogan, Charlotte and Alexandra Foote, and John Kirby McDonald.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ellis McDonald, IV, Gary Coates McDonald, Jr., Josh Hogan, Kniht Hogan, Tanner McDonald, Jeremy Foote, Hunter Windham, and Blake Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Leslie Bell III, Rickey Ellington, James J. Johnson, Jr., and Guy Pardue.
