Funeral services for Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Travis, 73, of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Ottis Lenoir officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Travis was born April 25, 1945, in Delhi, LA, and passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Ridgecrest Community Care Center in West Monroe. He retired from Borden Milk Co. and worked 11 years with Mac’s Fresh Market. Mr. Travis was a member of Christ Church of West Monroe. He was a Washington Redskin fan who never missed a game. “Diehard” fan is an understatement, his love for this team goes way back.
Mr. Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Annie Ola Travis; brother, Jimmie Travis; nephew, Jamie Travis; and son, Chris Travis.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Gloria Travis; daughter, Rhonda Stites (Jeff) of Monroe; granddaughters, Taylor Shoats (Colby), Ashley Stites, Hannah Travis, and Kayla Stites; and nieces, Vicky Stepherson and Cathy Anderson, both of Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Stites, Colby Shoats, Jimmy Stapleton, Jay Garner, David Wheeler, and Jason Frey.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Potts and staff at Glenwood Rehab 4th floor, and employees at Ridgecrest Nursing Home for their care and support. A special recognition to Dr. Dean Stockstill for his care and support as his family physician for many years.
