Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth C. Slusher, 77, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Bayou Oaks Baptist Church in Monroe, LA with Dr. Clyde Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Kenneth Charles Slusher passed away on July 9, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center at the age of 77.
A lifelong resident of Monroe, Louisiana, Kenneth attended Ouachita Parish High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Reata Davidson. They were married for 56 years. He attended Northeast Louisiana State College and served in the Army Reserve.
Kenneth worked for AL&M Railroad and retired after 25 years of service. During that time, he also served on the Ouachita Parish School Board for over 10 years and was President for several terms. Up until the time of his passing, he worked for the Ouachita Parish School Board as the Supervisor of Safety & Construction. He was an avid deer hunter and loved spending time with his family and friends at the deer lease. He was a devoted husband, father, and absolutely adored all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Davide; father, Smith Slusher; brother, Herbert Slusher; and brother-in-law Bruce Davidson.
Survivors include his wife, Reata Slusher; daughter, Sundee Nutt and husband, Rowdy; and son, Todd Slusher. Kenneth was affectionately called “Papa” by his six grandchildren: Chandler, Bailey, and Avery Nutt; Austin, Annabelle, and Landry Slusher; brother-in-law, Stephen Davidson; nephew, Shane Davidson and wife Stacey; and niece, Marcee Littlefield and husband, Troy.
Pallbearers will be Mike Calloway, Morris Funderburg, Danny Neal, Phillip Odom, Mike Vallery, and Bob Webber. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Garvin and Lanny Johnson.
