Keith Ray Pruitt, 67, of Mangham, LA passed away on October 9, 2016. The funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 13, 2016 at Mangham United Methodist Church. Reverend Marshall Sevier and Reverend Brian Mercer will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on October 12, 2016 at Mangham United Methodist Church in Mangham, LA. Burial will follow the funeral at Prewitt Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.
Keith was born in Shreveport, LA on September 24, 1949. He graduated from Fair Park High School. He furthered his education at Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and later received his masters in Educational Leadership at Northwestern State University.
Keith began his career teaching and coaching at Ringgold High School later moving to Mangham to coach baseball and football at Mangham High School, and teach at Mangham Junior High. He served as Mangham Elementary School Principal for many years and retired from Richland Parish Schools in 2005 after serving as Director of Federal Programs, secondary supervisor for Richland Parish. He went back to Mangham Elementary to serve as principal for two years after retirement. Keith was currently serving as President of Richland Parish School Board.
Keith was a strong supporter of Mangham Dragon Football and also served as the President of the Mangham Dixie Youth Baseball for 8 years.
Keith was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Mangham United Methodist Church serving as Finance Chairman and Mangham Methodist Men’s Chairman. He also loved singing in the choir.
Keith is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Williams Pruitt. He is survived by his father, James Ray Pruitt, his loving wife, Mary Boughton Pruitt of 46 years, his three children, Chris Pruitt & wife DeWanna, Allison Jones & husband Brian, and Clay Pruitt & wife Katherine. Keith’s most treasured pride and joy were his 8 grandchildren; Abby and Shelbie Pruitt, Madalyn and Cooper Jones, Elle and Sawyer Pruitt, Thomas Granger and Laney Calhoun.
Keith was loved by many, but to those who loved him most he was known as Daddy, Papa and Coach.
Memorials may be made to Mangham United Methodist Church, Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, or Prewitt Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Pruitt, Clay Pruitt, Bubba Boughton, Ron Magoun, Brian Jones, Jeff Boughton, Steve Hartley and Danny Shepherd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mangham Methodist Men.
