Private Family Services for Kathryn Virginia Hood, 92, of Monroe, were held Sunday, November 26, 2017. Interment was at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Hood was born May 28, 1925 and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. She was an accomplished Porcelain Artist, where she was active in State and Regional Associations and a teacher and seminar presenter. Mrs. Hood was of the Disciples of Christ faith.
Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray “JR” Hood; 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her children, Janet Hood Hanchey (Keith), James Ray “JR” Hood, Jr. (Virginia “Jenny”), John Frederick Hood, and Kathryn Virginia Hood Rose; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Forrest Hood (Brooke) and Courtney Karol Hood Laws (Corey); 2 great grandchildren, Jackson Hood and Reagan Hood; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to LA Hospice and Palliative Care, Rehabilitative Service staff at St. Francis Medical Center, and a Special Thanks to caregivers, Sandra Punchard and Ann Wisecarver.
