Kathryn was born on October 26, 1928, at her family home and passed from this life on April 13, 2020, after a brief illness. She is a graduate of Mangham High School, Valedictorian, and college graduate from LSU. She had a love for education and teaching her students math at Mangham and Neville High Schools, and later serving as Guidance Counselor at Neville until her retirement. Previously a resident of Monroe and a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, she moved back to her family home in Richland Parish and was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reminiscing of her childhood growing up on the farm and other activities of her younger days. In later years, she spent a lot of time working crossword and sudoku puzzles, and reading countless books. She will be fondly remembered by her nephews and nieces for her storytelling of the Douciere Ferry that her family operated on the Boeuf River, her father’s store, which served as a great gathering place, and the moving of the house by mules and wagons. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who treasured her relationships with others.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Ulysse and Cora Barnett Douciere, and brothers James Ulysse Douciere, Jr, Stanley Robert Douciere and John Gordon Douciere.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Betty Douciere and Deborah Douciere; Nephew David Douciere and wife Karen; Great nephew Daniel Douciere; Niece Kathryn E. Douciere. She also left behind friends, and many other extended family members. A deep gratitude goes to Roseitta Miley for her many years of dedicated service, and Don Smith for the many ways he leant his helping hands.
The family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 716 Francis Street, Rayville, 71269
