Funeral Services for Mrs. Kathryn Barnette Many 86, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday May 3, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Haney officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in the St. Paschal Catholic Cemetery in West Monroe, LA. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, La.
Mrs. Many died Wednesday April 30, 2007 at home surrounded by the love of her family and supported by the prayers of her friends.
Mrs. Many was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church for twenty-two years and previously a parishioner of St. Paschal Catholic Church. Born in Monroe, LA, Mrs. Many lived in the Twin Cities all of her life. Her deep religious faith not only touched countless others across her lifetime, but also earned her the recognition of the Catholic Church. In 2002, the pope bestowed on Mrs. Many a papal blessing. “The Pontifical Honor of Pro-Eccesia et Pontifice.” This award is given in recognition of extraordinary service to the church community and is the highest honor the church confers on a layperson.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Many valued as her greatest accomplishments her roles as wife and mother. She modeled for her family a life of grace and unselfish love.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Mr. Norman F. Many, Sr.; her parents, Jesse and Bessie Barnette; and one sister, Mrs. Joyce Haddad.
Devoted family members who will cherish her memory and her everlasting influence in their lives include her children, Norman F, Many Jr. of Downsville, LA, Linda Pickering of Monroe, LA, Rebecca Healy of West Monroe, LA, David Many and wife Dorothy of Cabot, AR and Robert Many and wife Sharon of West Monroe, LA, Joyce Many Voelkel and husband Steve of Atlanta, GA and Fran Nahlen-Many of Monroe, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Elizabeth Pippin, Emily Nunnelee, John Graham, Jason Healy, Joshua and John Many, Allison Entz, Jeremy Many, Jennifer Many, Sarah Niswanger, Victoria Voelkel, Caleb Many Voelkel and Miranda Voelkel Many; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis and Rebecca Pippin, Matt Hill, Jamie Garner, Jacob Graham, Mace Many, Kaitlin Many and Addison Niswanger; two great-great grandchildren, Conner Hill and Aubrey Garner and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers will be John Graham, Jason Healy, Joshua Many, John Many, Jeremy Many, Caleb Voelkel, Charles Many, and Freddie Haddad.
Honorary Pallbearers: Charlie Pippin, Trent Nunnelee, Mike Entz, Fritz Niswanger, and Steve Voelkel
The family would like to give special thanks to her in- home caregivers for the last 4.5 years, Bertha Roberts and Maudie Hudgins and Dr. Clyde Elliott for his care and support.
