Karey Lee Thomas

Funeral Services for Karey Lee Thomas, 97, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Luna Assembly of God Church with Bro. Joel Brackett officiating. Interment will follow in the Luna Assembly of God Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Karey was born on November 26, 1920 in Ouachita Parish and passed away on September 7, 2018 at his residence in West Monroe. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Karey served his community for over 35 years as owner of Thomas Grocery. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gertie Thomas; parents, Scott and Alice Thomas; brother, Elbert Thomas; and sisters, Florence Evans and Eilene Burke.

Survivors include his children, Jane Thomas Ball and Buck Thomas; grandchildren, Jennifer Kolb, Bart Copes and wife Liz, Scott Thomas and wife Bridget, Perry Thomas, and Seth Copes and wife Kara; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brothers, Doyle Wheat and wife Carolyn, John Wheat and wife Brenda; sister, Ila Mae “Pal” Burnette and husband Mac; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Scott Thomas, Perry Thomas, Bart Copes, Seth Copes, Austin Thomas, Chase Thomas, Keith Dowdy, and Bennett Blackwell.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Luna Assembly of God Church, West Monroe.
