June Cleat "Joe" Platt Jr.
Funeral Services celebrating the Life of Mr. June Cleat “Joe” Platt, Jr, 76, of Swartz, will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Keith McVay officiating and Mr. Gordon Davis and Mr. Gary Young speaking. The Brothers of Graham Surghnor will perform a masonic service.
Mr. Platt was born January 25, 1943 and passed away on October 10, 2019. He was a Master Mason, raised on April 19, 1964. He was Worshipful Master of Collinston Lodge #357 in 1969 and 1970, Graham Surghnor Lodge # 383 in 2006, and Potentate of Barak Shrine Temple in 2010. He was an active member in Etoile Polaire #1 and Graham Surghnor Lodge # 357. During his time as a Shriner he drove children from all parts of Louisiana to the Shrine Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Helping children was a passion for him.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing as hobbies. He was an enthusiastic turkey hunter and was active in the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Joe worked as a Pipe and Steam Fitter out of Grand Junction Colorado Local # 145. After traveling the country and working on many large construction projects, he retired in 1998.
He is preceded in death by his parents, June Cleat Platt, Sr. and Jodie Dorris Hudson Platt; and brother, Wayne Miller "Buddy" Platt.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha Parks Platt; son, June C. "Jay" Platt III and his wife, Robin Vail Platt, son, Erick Parks Platt; and grandchildren, Nicholas Alexander Platt, Abigail Evangeline Platt, and Parker Vail Platt; sister, Renne’ Platt Ramsey and her husband, Ray Ramsey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Young, Jerry Buddy Coghaln, Don Leonard, Ernest Naples, Al Bettencort, Henry Cline, Jerry Graves, Charles Hart, James Hart, Gordon Davis, Bert Hatten, and The Nobility of Barak Shrine Temple.
Memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
