Funeral services for Julius E. Ray will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday January 15, 2025 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Internment will be in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday January 14, 2025 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Ray was born on May 7, 1939 in Delhi, LA., and died on January 11, 2025 in West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Ray was a member of the Ridge Avenue Baptist Church and was a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church for many years, a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Army Signal Corp. Mr. Ray was retired from the United States Postal service after 30 years of service. He was a member of the West Monroe Jaycees and was an avid hunter and fisherman all his life.
Mr. Ray is preceded in death by parents Tracy and Martha Ray, brothers, Clyde Ray and Thomas Eugene Ray, Shelby Ray, Ronald Ray, Donald Ray, Herman Ray , Sherman Ray and Betty Osbon
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Kay Puckett Ray; children, Tom Benton and wife Sonja, Karan Miller and husband Richard; grandchildren, Ricky Miller and wife Nikki, Louis Miller, Tyra Linkous and husband Josh, Kelton Benton and wife Kristin and Justin New; great grandchildren, Skylar and Hunter Miller, Drake, Dakota and Dylan Linkous, Gaven, Brooks and Kallie Benton
Pallbearers will be Ricky Miller, Louis Miller, Josh Linkous, Kelton Benton, Justin New, and Kenny Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tip Top Hunting Club
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
