Juanita Coon Dowdy

On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Juanita C. Dowdy, 91, of West Monroe, LA, went home to be with her Heavenly Father.
Nita, or Granny as she was known as by her family and friends, was born on July 15, 1930 in Jonesville, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert C. Dowdy; parents, Margaret and Dave Coon; brothers, J.B. and Dave Coon; sisters, Lois Smith and Rosalie Tolar.
Survivors include her son, Dave Dowdy and wife, Jay; daughter, Carolyn Mills and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Melinda Walker and husband, Ryan, Jeremy Mills and wife, Janet, Jessica Dixon and husband, Rob, Kayla Turner and husband, Scott, and Jodi Auttonberry and husband, Nick; great grandchildren, David and Allison Walker, Mick and Mason Mills, Sydney, Henry and Jake Dixon, Caroline Turner, and Mallory and Tucker Auttonberry; a very special “sister”-in-law, Henrie Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery with her nephew, Dr. Clint Davis officiating.
Mrs. Dowdy’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
