Josie C. Hammons Byrd

Funeral Services for Josie C. Hammons Byrd, 80, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Center Point Baptist Church, West Monroe with Rev. Ricky Boone and Bro. Wesley Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Josie was born on December 7, 1939, in Jackson Parish, LA, and passed away on August 5, 2020, in West Monroe, LA. She was a retired school bus driver from Ouachita Parish School Board. Josie was a member of Center Point Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she loved serving her church. She will be remembered as a devout Christian and a loving Mother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny L. Byrd; parents, Hodge J. and Willie Mae Hammons; and brothers, Hodge E. Hammons, Henry J. Hammons, and Carl H. Hammons.

She is survived by her three children, Laura Annette Byrd and Ken, John Wade Byrd and wife Tamara, and Ben Hampton Byrd and Belinda; grandchildren, Amanda Byrd, Amber Coleman and husband Wesley, Tristan Brownlee and wife Brandy, and Justin Jordan and wife Dany, and Carey Stringer; sisters, Bonita Kennedy, Mary Howard, Shirley Tibbit, Janie Skains and husband Buddy, and Irma Kelley and husband Steve; and sisters-in-law, Jannette Hammons and Minnie Hammons.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, August 7, 2020, at Center Point Baptist Church, West Monroe.
