Funeral Services for Josie Ann Rodden Courteau, 62, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Emerson St. in Monroe with Father Mark Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ann Courteau passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe after a courageous battle with several serious illnesses.
Ann was born April 23, 1947 in Delhi, Louisiana. Her family soon moved to the Lakeshore area of Monroe, where she grew up and attended public schools, and later graduated from the University of Louisiana Monroe with a degree in music. She married her husband of 40 years shortly after graduation from ULM, and after a short career teaching music, began her life's passion; that of a loving wife and devoted mother to her two daughters.
Ann Courteau will be remembered by all who knew her as a gentle and loving soul who dedicated her life to her family, including her extended family, but especially her two daughters, Candace and Emily. Ann had a keen sense of humor, loved to travel, and always cherished an evening meal with her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, Jody Rodden.
She is survived by her mother, Daree Hales Rodden; husband, Michael A. Courteau; daughters, Candace Ann Courteau Pham and her husband John and daughter Emily Kaye Courteau Morris and husband Jay. She is further survived by her sister, Lesa Rodden Jowers and husband Ben; nephews, Joseph Jowers and his wife Rheana and James Jowers and his wife Jessica; her great niece, Abbie Jowers in addition to her sister, Joy Rodden Powell and husband Ricky along with nieces, Jody Powell, Ellie Powell and Anna Powell.
Pallbearers will be Ben Jowers, Joseph Jowers, James Jowers, Ricky Powell, Jody Powell and Bill Baker.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 23 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home on 165 North in Monroe, La.
