A memorial service for Mr. Joseph Talley, 73, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Joe was born April 28, 1948, to Sam and Roberta Talley and passed away November 17, 2021, from natural causes.
Joe graduated from Neville High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana at Monroe). Joe was a born salesman, who worked for years at Monroe Communications making connections and friends across the region. When his daughter-in-law mentioned trouble, she was having with some walkie-talkies, he said the trouble was that she didn’t buy Motorola, he thought he’d taught her better. Always a ready cook, he was the master of the barbecue pit and cooked steaks for anyone and everyone around him. Joe loved to “set sail” and took more cruises than anyone could count. He knew every ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet and occasionally enjoyed their routes on satellite map when he was in between trips. Joe was also a nature enthusiast and always had a plethora of birds enjoying treats from feeders and kept tabs on many of the African savannah wildlife cameras. Joe loved college football and he and Joel often enjoyed watching games together. He was a loving father, ready to tell a joke, always available to help in times of need, and will be truly missed.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Linda.
Joe is survived by his brother, Tom and wife Peggy; his son, Joel Tally and wife BreAnna; and grandsons, Cade and Finn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the African Wildlife Fund.
