Jose Rosalio Samaniego

A gathering of family and friends will be held for Jose Rosalio Samaniego, 66, of Downsville, Louisiana, will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 16, 2024. A mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with Padre Luis officiating, at St. Paschal's Catholic Church of West Monroe.

Mr. Samaniego was born on September 4, 1957, in Durango, Mexico, and passed away on January 12, 2024, in Downsville, Louisiana.

Rosalio was born to a loving mother, Celia, whom he adored, and he had seven other siblings. He moved to the United States at the age of sixteen, and made his home in Downsville, Louisiana. He spent most of his life working as a chicken farmer to support his family. He became a U.S. citizen in the 90’s. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his friends and family anytime he could.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Celia Sida; and his father, Juan Jose’ Samaniego.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Omar Samaniego, Rogelio Samaniego, Roberto Samaniego, Joanna Marruto, and Dayana Burgos; daughter in law, Priscilla Samaniego; ex-wife, Terri Samaniego; siblings, Lusiano Samaniego, Salvador Samaniego, Natividad Samaniego, Santiaga Samaniego, Maria Samaniego, Irma Samaniego, Carmela Samaniego; twenty-three beloved nieces and nephews; and seven beautiful grandchildren.
