John Raymond Becker of Monroe, LA, born August 10, 1932, with his wife by his side, left his earthly home on May 17, 2016, at 83-years-old.He was born in Browning, Missouri to Dr. Quinn and Lucille Becker. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Robert “Slick” Becker. John, “Big Daddy,” is survived by his: wife, Alitia Parker Becker; brother and family, Dr. and Mrs. Quinn Becker and family; children, Valerie Simpson, and John “Johnny” Becker; daughter-in-law, Cathy Becker; step-children, Scott Miller and wife Renee’, and Ava Miller; grandchildren, Crystal Lett, Morgan, Noah, Saxton and Maverick Becker; step-grandchildren Ben and Zack Miller, Lenzi, Bailey and Baxter Smith, and Taw Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Cooper Becker and Anabelle Smith.John was in the United States, 8th Army Headquarters and a Korean War veteran. He was an associate of T. J. Grant Co., and later Lew Hudson Sales. John and Alitia shared: church, travel, and square dancing with the Ouachita Squares Dance Club who will serve as Pallbearers, Louisiana Square Dance Association (LSDA) and United Square Dancers of America (USDA). He was a Lea Joyner United Methodist Church and National Rifle Association (NRA) member.Remembered most for his: brilliant and often shady humor; love of: motorcycles and automobiles; encouragement and life’s-lessons; Sunday School and exercise classes; Thursday meeting “The Old Fart’s Club,” the Honorary Pallbearers, old cars, old cameras and “old women!”Visitation, Tuesday, May 24th at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and service Wednesday, May 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home on 165 North. Pastor Ben McGehee will officiate, Asst. Pastor Betty Swanson will offer special prayer, and Ms. Betty Laird from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church will share warm-hearted words of a special friendship provided by Rev. Dr. Juliet Spencer, the Monroe District Superintendent of the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
