John Peter Dennis Ortega, Sr.

John Peter Dennis Ortega Sr., 66, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2021. Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Tuesday April 20, 2021, at 9:00 A.M. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Norman Bryant officiating.

Mr. Ortega was born on August 2, 1954, in Belen, New Mexico. He had lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and Victorville, California. While there, he was an executive chef and the original owner of The Pub and Johnny Fingers. He has been a resident of Monroe for the past eight years, moving here to be close to his sons and grandchildren. While in Monroe, John made many dear friends from neighbors (Kim and Theresa), co-workers to his friends at Starbucks, Home Depot, and his pharmacy. Thank you to the many doctors and nurses that took such great care of him.

John was preceded in death by his father Boniface Ortega and brother Paul Ortega.
John is survived by his wife Lynn; his sons John Ortega Jr. and wife Jessica, Shawn Michael Ortega; grandchildren Augustus, Finley, and Lucy Ortega all of Monroe; a stepdaughter Heidi Carrillo; grandchildren Joshua, Zachary, and Chelsea Wilson of California; his mother Priscilla Ortega of Texas; sister Kathy Casillas of Texas; brothers Richard Ortega of Virginia, Greg Ortega of Texas; seven nieces and two nephews.
