John McNeil "Buddy" O'Connor

Funeral Services for Mr. John McNeil “Buddy” O’Connor, 79, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. John Dowd officiating. Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. O’Connor was born October 1, 1939 and passed away February 2, 2019.

He was a baseball player at Northeast Junior College, where he was MVP for two years. He started working for Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1965, where he was instrumental in teaching classes about DWI and was a Probation Officer until his retirement. Mr. O’Connor was a huge baseball fan and coached youth baseball and softball; he was also an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Velma O’Connor; and brother, Bobby O’Connor.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry O’Connor; children, Mac O’Connor, Margaret O’Connor, Terri Chelette and Donna Antley; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 4, 2019, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
