Funeral services for John M. (Johnny) George, 59, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Joseph Puthuppally officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. George passed away Monday, January 24, 2011. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Mr. George was a member of the Harley Davidson Group and was the founder of the Frying for Freedom at the Veterans Home. Johnny was a charismatic humorous person who touched many lives with his kindness and caring spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Dorothy George and nephews, Keith Beaver and Claude Durbyn, Jr.
Survivors include sisters, Darla Beaver and husband Clyde of West Monroe, LA, Jan Brunson and husband Dan of Quitman, LA, and Cynthia Cady and husband Carl of West Monroe, LA; former wives, Brenda Lasuzzo George of Monroe, LA and Kim Stokes George of Monroe, LA; and several nieces, nephews, godchildren, and numerous friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lancaster, Randall Lancaster, Billy Beaver, Paul Cady, Brad Cady, Taylor Stokes, and Jeffrey Croft. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cormier, Jamie Cormier, Sal Petitto, Dennis Lasuzzo, Ronnie Lasuzzo, and Pat Smith.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with a Vigil Wake at 6:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Cormier’s Catering for Frying for Freedom.
There will be a reception following the service at Anna Gray Noe Alumni Center from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
