John Golson "Johnny" Cutler

John Golson Cutler (71) of Monroe, Louisiana passed away at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. “Johnny” was born in Delhi, Louisiana on February 11, 1954.

As a child, Johnny met the love of his life, Judy. They grew up together, attended elementary, junior high, high school, and college together, and married in 1976.

Johnny was a graduate of Delhi High School and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in 1975. He worked many years as a project manager for Ford, Bacon & Davis and for Hunt Guilliot. Over the years he mentored many young engineers and associates and had great joy in creating and maintaining his business relationships. He was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church.

Johnny greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He grew up on the water and the golf course. He spent many summers on the Ouachita River and Lake Bruin, skiing and enjoying the water, and many long weekends antiquing with Judy in Canton, TX. He spent countless hours maintaining his ski boat and he loved an afternoon sunset boat cruise. He also loved going to the beach, setting up tents and LSU flags along the shoreline, and flying kites. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at the BLC Hunting Camp where he would hunt deer and turkey. He was very passionate about conservation and wildlife preservation. Johnny was a dedicated LSU football fan and rarely missed a home game. He loved to tailgate and grill almost as much as he loved the games. For away games, he would host game watching parties in his famous backyard “barn.” He was just as big a fan of the Golden Band from Tigerland as he was of the football team.

He loved classic cars, especially his 1972 Z-28 Camero and 1974 Ford Bronco. He loved building backyard fires to visit around and enjoy drinks with friends and family. Johnny would often play his set of drums after spending long days outside tending to his carefully and beautifully planted flowerbeds and manicured yard. He was an animal lover, and over the years cared for many horses, cats, and dogs, especially his two most precious companions, Sophie and Ryder. Johnny lived to help others. He greatly valued relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, and he never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William (Billy) Ralph Cutler and Jane Golson Cutler of Delhi, LA; his brother, Ralph Wesley Cutler of NYC, NY; his maternal grandparents, Dr. John and Nieta Golson of West Monroe; his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Ruby Cutler of Delhi, LA; aunts, Jackie Cutler of Delhi, LA, Elizabeth Cutler Vincent of Delhi, LA, and June Golson Eby of Monroe, LA; and his beloved father-in-law, Grover Harvey of Delhi, LA, and mother-in law, Cordie Bell Nelson Harvey of Monroe, LA.
