Jackson will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Monroe with Father Richard Norman officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.Mr. Jackson was born December 20, 1921, in Lockloman, LA, and died August 14, 2014, at the Terrace in West Monroe, LA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. John Jackson grew up in Taylor, LA, and enlisted in the Army, December 7, 1940. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the 494th anti-aircraft gun battalion in Europe during World War II. John Jackson was proud of his service to his country; being honorably discharged August 25, 1945. He re-enlisted in the Army reserves in 1949, and was discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1952. John spent his working career of 39 years with Bell South, and retired in 1984. He also served on the board of Monroe Telco Federal Credit Union from 1958 to 1992, in various capacities. John’s “second career”, following retiring from Bell South, was working with his wife, Faye, in Modern Wrap, Inc., from 1984 to 1991, where he made many friends in the cotton ginning industry.John Jackson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Faye Halbert Jackson, who died in 1993. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Margret Tucker Jackson, who died in 2009; and his sister, Evelyn Jackson Collins.John is survived by his son, John C Jackson, II, and wife, Susan of Choudrant, LA; grandson, David Jackson, and wife, Nicole of Rayville, LA; granddaughter, Karen Flournoy, and husband, Curt of New Orleans, LA; great granddaughter, Emery Kate Jackson, and great grandson, Jackson McGehee Flournoy. John is also survived by a sister, Kathryn Meiher, of Eagle Lake, TX.The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Louisiana Hospice; and, the Terrace, Alzheimer’s community in W. Monroe for their care during his final years; and to the Ouachita Council on Aging who so lovingly helped him through his later years.Memorials should be made to the Ouachita Council on Aging, P.O.
