Services for Joe Thomas Woods, 83 of Gilbert will be 2:00PM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Oakley Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home-Winnsboro.Joe was born on July 3, 1932 in Winn Parish and passed away at his residence in Gilbert on February 19, 2016. He loved to sell watermelons and tomato, an avid fisherman, once caught a wallet with $200.00 in it, loved going to casinos, enjoyed going out to eat, and enjoyed speaking to people. He was a people person.He is preceded in death by his parents-Sam and Kate Woods; his wife of 57 years-Gayle Woods; his son-Thomas Wayne Woods; and sister-Almeady Alford.He is survived by his daughters-Donna Thomas and husband Chip of Gilbert, Janice Lachney and husband Jimmy of Jigger, and Carol Austin and husband Don of Baskin; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.Pallbearers will be Chris Lachney and Joseph Lachney. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Adcock and David Hicks.Visitation will be from 5:00until 8:00PM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home-Winnsboro.
