Graveside Services for Mrs. Joan Johnson Harwood, 88, of Monroe, LA, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe with Rev. Brian Mercer officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Harwood was born January 25, 1932 and passed away on June 20, 2020. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Monroe. Mrs. Harwood was a retired educator with the Ouachita Parish School System. She enjoyed reading, sewing, but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Harwood is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Nell McDade Johnson; husband, Robert E. Harwood, Jr; son, William C. Toadvin; daughter, Anna Williams; two brothers, James McDade Johnson and Leslie Neil Johnson; and a sister, Marianna Johnson.
Survivors include her daughters, Celeste Funderburg (John), and Leslie Dear (Tim); daughter-in-law, Donna Toadvin; two stepchildren, Bob Harwood (Susan) and Linda Perry (David); sixteen grandchildren, Julia Toadvin, Landon Hughes, Austin Hughes (Leslie), Adrielle Williams, John McDade Funderburg, Jason Funderburg (Alison), Katherine Rezende (Gus), Christopher Rambin (Anna), Reagan Holloway (Adam), Camden Dear, Chandler Dear, Jordan Johnson (Melissa), Jillian Johnson, Whitney Harwood, Krystal Ramsey (David), and Tori Hamby (Seth); numerous great-grandchildren; brother, John D. Johnson (Susie); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
The family would like to extend special thank you to the caregivers, Pam Pumphrey, June Lovett, and Shanequa Davis; as well as the staffs of the Arbor Rose Assisted Living and the Arbor Lake Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
