A funeral mass celebrating the life of Mrs. Joan Audrey Schulte Fisher, 89, of West Monroe, LA, at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Frank Coens officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Joan Audrey Schulte Fisher was taken to her final resting place on February 25, 2021. She was born November 8, 1931, in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Foley, AL. Joan was preceded in death by her spouse of 53 years, James Henry Fisher, Jr.; and her spouse, George Richard Schnell; her parents, Mathias A. Schulte and Theresa Margaret Dutko; brother, Michael Dutko; and sisters, Dolores Schulte and Shirley Margaret Schulte Scallorn and brother-in-law, Charles Scallorn of Georgetown, AL.
She leaves to cherish her memory her three adult children, Richard Lyon Schnell and wife Vicky of San Jose, CA, James Henry Fisher, III (Jay), DVM, of Lake Providence, LA, and S. Renee Fisher Stadius, CPA of Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tabitha Schnell of Lexington, KY, Melinda Schnell of San Jose, CA, Andy Stadius (Betsy) of Calhoun, LA, Ali Fisher (Manny) of Baton Rouge, LA, Jason Fisher of Lafayette, LA, Collin Fisher of Tallulah, LA, Hannah Stadius of South Carolina, and Emily Fisher of Tallulah, LA. Great grandchildren are Vanessa Ariela Amas-Fisher (Ali & Manny), and David and Jude Stadius (Andy & Betsy). Other family members are her cherished aunt, Dr. Josephine Schulte, PhD of San Antonio, TX, and brother, Eugene Dutko of New Jersey.
Joan was a faithful servant and leader at St. Paschal Catholic Church for over 50 years. She cherished her work for the church, community, and all the organizations in which her children were involved.
Joan and her husband, Jim, were active members of the West Monroe Rotary Club and involved in the Friendship Exchange Program. Together they traveled across the world partnering with other Rotarians and served as host and hostess to Rotarians from around the globe.
As a Certified Public Accountant, Joan served the community and church in many capacities. She served the Archdiocese of Shreveport as a charter member of the Diocesan Finance Council. She was a member of the Quota Club of West Monroe, and member and treasurer for the Ministry of Inspirational Therapy.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. on Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
