Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Allen Hegwood, Sr., 69, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 29, 2008, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Joe Solomon assisted by Rev. Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Hegwood, retired chief inspector of Quality Control at Thomas Industries, passed away November 27, 2008. He was a member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, West Hunting Club, Crazy 8 Hunting Club, and former owner of Hegwood Fish Market on DeSiard Street for forty years. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

All 25 family members went on a family cruise in January ’08 to start the year off and he was the center of the trip and you always knew he was the “Boss” and in charge. He also enjoyed all the family gatherings and holidays, especially Easter, and the evenings at home when family would come by for visits on the patio.

Mr. Hegwood was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Tempie Hegwood; sister, Gladys Hegwood Schneider; and brother, J. R. Hegwood.

He is survived by the love of his life of over 50 years, his wife, Yvonne Hegwood; son, Jim Hegwood, Jr. and wife Renee Alexander; daughters, Denise McMullen and husband Artie, and Elizabeth Benefield and husband Raymond; sister, Judy Hegwood Boyte and husband Bob; grandchildren, Amanda and Whit McMullen, Jimbo, III and wife Danielle Hegwood, Charlie and Courtney Hegwood, and Raymond, Jr. and David Benefield; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Rose.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jimbo Hegwood, Whit McMullen, Raymond Benefield, Jr., Charlie Hegwood, and David Benefield. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Huckabee, Lavelle Huckabee, Greg Woods, Steve McMullen, John Turner, and Jim Rolen.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe
