Jessie Lee Howard

Graveside services for Mrs. Jessie Eley Broadway Howard, 91 of Port Neches, Texas formerly of Gilbert will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Chase Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Bro. Kevin Bates officiating.
Ms. Howard was born December 31, 1927 in Gilbert, LA, and passed away on May 22, 2019 in Port Arthur, Texas.
Ms. Howard was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Port Neches, Tx and an active member of the Presbyterian Women’s Club. Ms. Howard was involved in numerous civic and leisure clubs in her town including the local bridge club, The Red Hat society, Business &Professional Women, Rotary Club, Angel Tree for the Salvation Army, Texas Retired Teacher Association, and the Jefferson County Home Education Extension. She was a retired schoolteacher and beloved by her family and all that knew her. She loved her family and had a special love for her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Ms. Howard was preceded in death by her parents Jessie Bass Eley and Ernstine Segers Eley; three brothers, J.B., Roy, and Isaac “Boody’ Eley, and one son-in-law Dan Broadway. Her first husband, Houghton Broadway, and her second husband, James Howard.
She is survived by her son Gene Broadway and wife Charlotte of Kingsland, Tx., Lynn Broadway of Port Neches, Tx. Two grandchildren Amie Broadway and wife Kat Broadway of Fort Worth, Tx, and Darcie Broadway of Houston, and one great granddaughter, Bennett Rylee Broadway. Two sisters Lillian “Dee” Ezell, Gilbert, LA and Annie Mae McLemore, Gilbert, LA
Memorial services will be held on June 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church Port Neches, Tx.
