Memorial services for Mr. Jerry Wayne Danna, 70, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Fr. Joe Martina officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Danna was born December 13, 1951, in Monroe, LA and he passed away on September 1, 2022, at his home in Monroe, LA.
Mr. Danna served in the United States Airforce and a member of the airforce band. He assisted with the family business, Danna Shoe Shop Repair and Boots, and was also a long-distance truck driver.
Mr. Danna loved music; it was a big part of his life. At Wossman High School he played first chair, Trumpet, and was invited to First Chair of America in 1970. He went on to serve in the United States Airforce where he played trumpet in the Airforce band, including playing Taps for fallen soldiers. After serving in the Airforce, he played with Herbie Hancock and various other musicians. His hobbies included playing the guitar, chess, and fishing. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching Star Trek, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Danna is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony “Tony” Jack Danna, Sr. and Eloise Curry Danna.
Survivors include his children: Nicholas J. May and wife Angela, Melissa Robert and husband Beau, Amber Drobiezewski and husband Nicolai, and Brandon Danna; siblings, Robert Danna and wife Chris, Tony Danna, Jr. and wife LaQuita, Steve Danna, Anita Gayle Sanderson, and Ginger Reed; grandchildren, Jarod, T.J., River, Megan, Madison, Brailey, Jack, Jade and Lillie Ann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
