Jerre Catherine Burch

Jerre Catherine Burch, age 77, passed away on May 18, 2022. She was born October 8, 1944 in Clovis, New Mexico to Walter and Lottie Cochran. She has two younger sisters Lou Ann Roth (Scott) and Kay Cochran. She graduated from Friona High School and then moved to Abilene, Texas where she graduated from Hendricks Memorial Hospital School of Professional Nursing where she was voted Miss HMH by her peers. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Hendricks Hospital. She married James Burch. He was an officer in the Air Force. They had one move abroad where they lived in Taiwan for 1 year. After James retired from the Air Force they moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was their home for 40 years. They were longtime members at Oakcrest Baptist Church. In 2016 they relocated to Monroe, Louisiana to be closer to their youngest daughter. They were married for 51 years. Jerre loved animals and early in life had thought of being a veterinarian before choosing nursing at the urging of her mother. Her other interests including horseback riding, traveling, photography, painting, sewing, and loving on her family and friends. She enjoyed being a member of the Patchwork Pelicans in Baton Rouge. She was kind and loyal to everyone that she knew. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Burch (Major, Retired, USAF), her parents, Lottie and Walter Cochran, and her granddaughter Sarah Birch. Jerre was a loving mother to her two daughters, Mary Mangham (Doug) and Shawna Johnson (Alan), her stepson Chip Birch (Lisa) and stepdaughter Sheree Phifer (Glenn). She was a cherished grandmother to Trey Birch (Meghan), Travis Phifer (Taylor), Victoria Phifer, Regan Mangham, Emery Johnson, Major Mangham, Reid Johnson and Daniel Birch, great-grandchildren James Birch, Cindy Birch, Mollie Birch and Ruthie Birch. She was Jerre, she was Mom and she was Gogo. Her kindness, grace, and love will be carried on by all those who miss her. She is now reunited in Heaven with her loved ones that went before her. We will have a celebration of life with family and friends on July 3, 2022 in Kingsland, Texas.
