Funeral Services for Mr. Jeri Lyn Dowdy, 72, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Thursday, February 10, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Dr. Bob Holloway officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe.
Jeri passed away on February 6, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born in West Monroe, LA and graduated from West Monroe High School in 1968. He married the love of his life, Linda in 1969. Jeri joined the Air Force shortly thereafter and served his country and received an honorable discharge. He then made a career as a pipefitter working all over the country and later served as the business manager for Pipefitters Union Local 659 in Monroe. Jeri often worked out of town for long periods of time to provide for his family that he deeply loved.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Earl Dowdy and Ruby Lee Rawls Dowdy; brother, Randy Dowdy, and his two nephews, Paul and Darren Bonner.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Gatlin Dowdy; son, Brad Dowdy; daughter, Jennifer Dowdy Hamilton; grandchildren, Kristen Dowdy, Caleb Chavers (Mallory) and Kaden Dowdy; and the apple of his eye, his great-granddaughter, Laken McClain; siblings, Robert Wayne Dowdy (Ruth) and Bonnie Dowdy Daugherty (Larry); sisters-in-law, Nancy White Dowdy, Gail Gatlin Johnson; brother-in-law, Robert Gatlin, Jr.; special mother-in-law, Louise Wink Gatlin; as well as numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Chavers, Tony Dowdy, Timothy Dowdy, Kevin Dowdy, Nolan Dowdy, and Noah Short. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Daugherty, Shannon Frost, Rob Gatlin, Jerome Carr and Walter Kelley.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Glenwood Regional Medical Center ICU for their tireless efforts over the last few days.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
The family respectfully requests that masks be worn.
