A funeral mass celebrating the life of Jeffery “Mouse” W. Malmstrom, 59, will be held Friday, February 16, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Keith Garvin and Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. A private family committal service will follow in Kilpatrick Serenity Garden Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.
Jeff was born April 1, 1958 to Richard “Dick” and Constance Malmstrom in Manhatten, Ks. He grew up in West Monroe and graduated from West Monroe High School. Following graduation, he attended Delta Vo-Tech School in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Like his father, Jeff had a servant’s heart and enjoyed talking with anyone at anytime. This endeared him to his clients as he served them in J Malmstrom’s Heating and A/C for over 35 years. In September 1986 he married, his love, Gelene and together they built a life full of love, fun, family, and friends. Jeff was an avid outdoorsman, often found fishing in the bayous of Louisiana, hunting duck, dove, rattlesnake and alligator in Texas, pheasant hunting in Kansas and South Dakota, motorcycling in Minnesota (where he also ended up using his musical talents singing on stage in a pub). When not outdoors, he could be found serving his clients and spending time with his grandson, Chase. If you saw one, you saw the other. Many times, he combined his hobbies by cooking wild game, with his special seasoning, from hunts with his family and friends. He was honored to spend his time with his clients in his work and his friends in fun.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father Dick. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years, Gelene, mother Connie, son Stephen Clay Covington, daughter-in law Sarah McDowell, grandson Stephen Chase Covington, sisters Charlotte (Claude) Williams and Teresa (Ricky) Smith, nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends and clients who loved him.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School or American Cancer Society.
