Funeral services for Jean M. Tucker will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 28, 2011, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Ms. Tucker peacefully slipped away Thursday morning, May 26, 2011, to happily join her mother, father, and brother in the loving arms of Jesus. Jean was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Jean proudly served as a greeter there as long as her health allowed. She dearly loved her pastor, Dr. Larry Stafford, and all her friends there. One of the main characteristics of Jean’s life was that she loved everybody, especially children, and was a ‘giver’.
Jean was a lifelong resident of Monroe, a graduate of Neville High School, attended Northeast Center and later graduated from NLU with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught second grade at Georgia Tucker Elementary School for a number of years and worked as a secretary with Columbian Carbon.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Bob Ed and Grace Hill Tucker; and her beloved brother, Bobby. She is survived by cousins, Fred Laundry of Houston, TX, Jane Cummings of Kerrville, TX, Louise Bird of Georgetown, TX, Katherine Bird of Georgetown, TX, Linda Bird of Wimberley, TX, Joy Muse of Junction City, AR, Charlie and Celie Flynn of Bastrop, LA; and a host of special friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary “Bud” Smith, Don Bartlett, Charles Page, Garrett Edens, Doug Hudson, and Jack “Buster” Lewis.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jean’s request would be that any memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Monroe or the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston.
