Jean Ann Dorris

Funeral services celebrating the life of Ms. Jean Ann Dorris, 89, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.

Ms. Dorris was born on January 12, 1935 in Houma, LA and passed away on January 3, 2025. Jean was a devoted Christian who was ready to meet her Savior. She was also a loving mom to her daughter, Darlyne. In years past, Jean loved spending time with her sisters, nieces and nephews crabbing and camping on the beach at Grand Isle. She loved cooking for everyone, especially Gumbo’s, Soups and Fudge. She always thought of others. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. Rhodes Sr. and Josephine Dupree Rhodes; sister, Betty Rhodes Soudelier; brothers, Roy Rhodes, Edward J. “EJ” Rhodes Jr., and her infant brother.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Darlyne Dorris Owen and husband, Darryl of West Monroe, LA; sister, Shirley Rhodes Dorris of Leesville, LA; and her brother, Robert “Bobby” Rhodes and wife, Hope; numerous nieces and nephews; and her grandpups, Pluto, Daisy and Doc.

Pallbearers will be Richard Dorris, Danny Laurence, Michael Bourgeois, Jackie Green, and Robert Rhodes, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter.
