Jay Lynn Trisler

Jay Trisler, age 59, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021, in Monroe, Louisiana. There will be a memorial service held in his honor on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Start Baptist Church in Start, Louisiana, with Cherie Henson, Garey Trisler, and Bro. Jeff Thomas officiating, under direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe.

Jay, Jay Lynn, Jay Bird, Uncle Jay, Pawpaw or Uncle Mister Daddy Jay, however you referred to him, he was one of a kind. He brought the fun wherever he went.

Jay grew up in Rocky Branch, and his days as a youth included baseball, rough housing with his brothers, especially his “little brother,” Donnie, and days at his Granny’s house in Girard surrounded by lots of family. Whether you knew him from childhood or later in life, you most likely remember his infectious spirit that could light up any room.

Once out of school, Jay proudly served his country in the US Army before working for 26 years as an employee at Graphic Packaging. On his off days he would do one of two things depending on the season, hunting or playing golf. Both were his favorite pastimes, and he thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. Jay also deeply cherished his time with his family and friends.

Jay had a funny and mischievous side. He was the OG of photobombing, always showing up in pictures, popping around a wall or someone’s shoulder, or wearing a number of his goofy faces for the camera. He loved to be the life of the party, and whether he meant to or not, was often the center of attention. He was a teller of tales. He loved entertaining people with his hundreds of over-the-top stories, which were really ten stories he told you over and over again. More than anything, he was a kind, loving, tender-hearted man who would do anything for the ones he loved. He made so many meaningful relationships throughout his life, but none quite compared to the one he had with his granddaughter, M’Lynn. He worshipped the ground she now walks on. Of the many great things he did in his life, he was most proud to be her Pawpaw.

He has always been loved, and he will always be missed.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, W.E. Absher and wife Carlette, Noah Redick Trisler and wife Della; Father, Aubrey Trisler and wife Charlene Cade Trisler, Mother, Zuella Absher Trisler; brothers, Alan, Greg, and Donnie Trisler.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Tippen Trisler; daughter, Whitney Trisler Causey and husband Clint; granddaughter, M’Lynn Causey; stepson, Wesley Gibson and wife Jessica; honorary sons, Andrew Carson and wife Brittaney, Devin Carson, and Cole Carson; nephews, Reagan Trisler and wife Jen, Landon Trisler; niece, Tarin Tanner and husband Jason, and a host of family and friends.
