Funeral services for Mrs. Janis Strauss, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 28, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, Loop Road, Monroe with Rev. Larry Stafford and Rev. JoAnn Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mrs. Strauss was born in Mansfield, LA and passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at St. Francis North Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Board of Salvation Army, Monroe Symphony Orchestra, and the Masur Museum. She was President of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at St. Francis and enjoyed playing golf and bridge at Bayou DeSiard Country Club and a member of the Big Timers Dance Club. She was also a member of Colonial Dame of the 17th Century.
Mrs. Strauss was preceded in death by her parents, O. L. and Paulette Holloway; and sisters, Mary Jane Unglesby and Kathryn Griffith.
Survivors include her husband, Ernest M. Strauss; daughter, Gail Bunch and husband Leonard; three granddaughters, Janis Barraza and husband Michael of Monroe, LA, Sally Mouton and husband David of Houston, TX, and Holly Dencker and husband Joe of Denver, CO; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Saul Mintz, Morris Mintz, Tom Hardee, Michael Barraza, David Mouton, and Joe Dencker.
Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 until service time at the church.
