Janis Tucker Marzula

Janis Tucker Marzula, born November 14, 1952, was reunited with her beloved husband, Sam, on January 16, 2025. They were soulmates who were together since 1984. Since his death in 2018, she’s been looking forward to their Heavenly reunion along with other family members who have gone before her.

Born and raised in Monroe, LA, she moved to Texarkana, AR in 1985 where she and Sam lived until his death. Returning to her hometown, she reconnected with friends from her younger years, including Sara Ross, who visited her almost weekly and meant so much to her.

A generous woman in so many ways, she gave of herself most of all. A nurse for forty years, she took time to get to know her patients. She continued talking with many of them even after she retired. They could call with anything from medical questions to personal problems or just to chat and she always made time for them. She has a box full of every card and note any of them had given her over the years, each one special to her.

As a mother, she was Super Woman. She somehow managed to work a full-time job, cook almost every night (even after having knee surgery), keep the house clean and made it all look so easy. She shared with her children a love of music, reading and travel, including their first trip to the Grand Canyon in Sept 2023.

Janis will be welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Sam Marzula Jr., her parents, E.O. Tucker and Malissa Buse, as well as her siblings Butch Tucker, Jimmy Tucker and Lisa Beard.

She is survived by her children, Misty Tucker and Chance Masters, and grandsons, Curtis, Hunter, Alex and Tyler and great-grandbaby, August Maeson.

Per Janis’s wishes, there will be no funeral services held. She has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to either St. Jude or the American Cancer Society.
